Pizza Margherita

by Jessica VandenHouten

Ingredients:

1 (13.8-oz) tube refrigerated pizza dough
¼ cup marinara sauce
3 oz. fresh mozzarella, thinly sliced
½ pint grape or cherry tomatoes, halved
6 fresh basil leaves
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Extra-virgin olive oil for drizzling

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 425F. Place oven rack on lowest shelf in oven (this will help the crust crisp).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, let kids help roll the dough out into an 8- by 12-inch rectangle. Transfer to a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Have kids spread marinara sauce evenly over dough and arrange mozzarella, tomatoes and basil on top. Season with salt and pepper. Bake until cheese is melted and crust is golden, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven, drizzle lightly with olive oil and serve.
