Why Does Fiber Matter?

Why is fiber so important?
Why is fiber so important?
We hear so much about the importance of fiber, it’s tempting to merely nod in agreement and move on. Unfortunately, each day, most Americans only get about half of the fiber they really need from their diet alone.

But why is fiber so important?

If you’re familiar with cleansing, you probably already know that fiber binds to toxins in the intestine and helps move them along for easy elimination. But fiber does a lot more than support regularity.

Fiber also helps our bodies absorb beneficial minerals, it helps fight free radicals, supports healthy intestinal bacteria, and helps us maintain healthy cholesterols levels already within normal limits.

So, while the answer – “add fiber because it does a lot” – may seem simple, the question may be, “which fiber?”

Which fiber? More than one is best.
A blend of fibers is best. Just as you wouldn’t rely on one pair of shoes to do everything—hiking, expensive dinner dates, backyard chores—neither should you rely on just one fiber source.

Fiber Fusion™ daily cleansing fiber combines a mix of ingredients, including psyllium husk, oat bran, guar gum seed extract, pectin, and marshmallow root. Each player on this fiber team contributes its own all-star talents.

  • Psyllium
Psyllium is a pretty fascinating ingredient. It’s a fiber that can absorb up to 14 times its weight in water and helps lubricate the intestines, making elimination easier and more comfortable.† The fiber from psyllium husk can also be used by probiotics in the digestive tract as a source of short-chain fatty acids, supporting intestinal health and repair.

  • Oat bran
Oat bran also absorbs water in the intestine, promotes regularity, and is often identified with supporting healthy cholesterol levels already within normal limits.

  • Guar gum
Guar gum fiber supports healthy excretion like other fibers, and  has the additional benefit of being “slippery” in the intestines, making bowel movements easier to pass.

  • Pectin
Pectin from citrus is a natural fiber you’ve probably encountered if you’ve done any baking. Pectin is an interesting ingredient, because is can be used to ease both occasional constipation and loose stools. Pectin from citrus fruit is a soluble fiber that has been studied for its support of immune health.

  • Marshmallow root
Marshmallow, as the name conjures, has a softening quality, soothing irritated membranes in the stomach and intestines, and making elimination more comfortable.

Just throwing these fibers together doesn’t instantly mean “simple digestion.” It takes a little extra science to make it work properly, and that’s where True Dispersion™ Technology comes in.

Rather than just sitting in the intestines like a lump, True Dispersion Technology gives fiber the boost it needs when it becomes moist. It helps the fiber ingredients spread out a bit, filling up the intestines for more thorough - and gentle - benefits.

Fiber matters more than we realize. But don’t settle for fiber that doesn’t make you feel great. Mix it up a bit. Add more fiber to your diet little by little before, during, and after a cleanse, and stay with the blend of fibers you get in Fiber Fusion for that clean feeling every day.
