    Position: Maintenance Engineer

    Job Description:
    This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of distribution center equipment and mechanicals in a fast paced, high volume environment. Maintain, repair and troubleshoot automated material handling systems and equipment, ID systems, conveyor systems, auto-labeling system and HVAC and cooler systems.  Conduct preventive maintenance and repair of other mechanical, electrical and production equipment within the facility. Keep accurate records of scheduled maintenance and equipment modifications. Communicate effectively with DC leadership, its vendors, and co-workers.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Ensure all safety programs, policies and procedures are strictly followed.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot all conveyor system electronics, pneumatics and mechanicals.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot all sorting / divert systems.
    • Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot power distribution systems, material handling systems, branch circuits, and lighting systems.
    • Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components, photo-eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, variable frequency drives, PLC I/O, and encoders.
    • Maintain a frugal focus of completing tasks in a timely and customer centric approach.   
    • Ensure that assigned preventive maintenance schedules are completed in a timely and thorough manner.
    • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic conveyor components (for example, bearings, reducers, chains drives, etc.)
    • Repair and maintain distribution center HVAC and refridgeration  systems.

    Skills & Experience:

    • This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but requires some leadership qualities as the team member will work with minimal supervision and provide direction to other materials team members.
    • Prior mechanical repair and maintenance training or experience within a manufacturing or distribution center.
    • Strong knowledge of automated conveyor systems and controls.
    • Experience in industrial electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, troubleshooting, high-speed conveyors and general mechanical principals.
    • Excellent Analytical skills to be able to identify the source problems as they arise.
    • Blueprint and electrical / air schematic reading for electrical control panels.
    • Basic Computer Knowledge -  Able to create PLC programs for motor and solenoid controls.
    • Troubleshooting screens, scales including setups.
    • Knowledge of occupational hazards and the necessary safety precautions.
    • Ability to schedule and perform required preventive maintenance.
    • Maintain logs of all preventive and breakdown maintenance performed.
    • High School diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of related work experience in the areas of distribution or material handling industry. Training in an Industrial Maintenance program is desired. Familiar with distribution center equipment. Must be able to read prints and schematics.
