Feel safe with our Fish Oil
Like many people, we’ve been following the media coverage of environmental contaminants – namely PCBs – present in many fish oil supplements.
We’d like to put your concerns to rest and detail the measures we take to ensure our supplements are free from harmful levels of contaminants.
Meets intensive criteria.
- Our Eskimo-3 fish oil is formulated to meet all criteria established in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED). These monographs provide a definition for omega-3 fatty acid products, which includes specifications for potency (EPA and DHA) and a broad range of potential contaminants, including PCBs, dioxins, and heavy metals.
Well established testing at manufacturer – then, tested again.
- Our fish oil manufacturer has a well established testing program to ensure the product meets USP/GOED requirements, and any lot not meeting the specifications established in the monograph is rejected for use. The results are reported to us with receipt of each new lot. In addition,we utilize third party laboratories to perform complete impurity testing on the finished product annually
Conforms to GMPs.
- Health and safety is our highest priority. To that end, our Quality Assurance Department has established procedures to ensure our products meet strict specifications. As recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), our fish oil manufacturer’s facilities and operations conform to European GMPs (The Commission: Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice for Medicinal Products in the European Community and directive 91/356/EEC).
Well-sourced and processed.
- The fish oil used to manufacture our Eskimo-3 products is sourced from non-endangered species of cold-water fish (herring fishes, including anchovies and sardines) harvested from areas not subjected to over-fishing. The fish undergo a proprietary six step process to ensure our product meets eicosapentanoic acid (EPA) and docosahexanoic acid (DHA) claims as required by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The processing includes molecular and steam distillations, two techniques used to remove unwanted oxidation products as well as undesirable volatile substances, including PCBs.
Safety and good health.
Promoting health is our goal. We hope that these details help you feel assured about our fish oil supplements and their safety. If you have any concerns, please feel free to
