Description
Sea Buddies Immune Defense is a daily immune formula for children age one to twelve years of age in a chewable tablet.
How Does It Work?
The major components of children's immune systems include the spleen, a very large thymus gland, the lymphatic system, bone marrow, white blood cells, antibodies, and certain hormones. Optimal nutrition provides needed vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients to support the function and ability of healthy white blood cells and biochemicals to support a healthy immune system.
1-3 Supplemental antioxidants provide protection from free radicals (potentially damaging by-products of the body's metabolism).
4,5
Studies have demonstrated that children's diets influence the current health of their immune systems, as well as their immune system functioning later on into adolescence and adulthood.6,7 The ingredients in Sea Buddies Immune Defense work together, some synergistically, to provide support for healthy immune system functioning.
| Sea Buddies Immune Defense Ingredient |
Immune Supportive Action |
Vitamin A (as beta carotene) |
The vitamin A in Surf Buddies Immune Defense is pure beta-carotene, the most active vitamin A precursor. Beta-carotene is converted to vitamin A by the body only as needed. Vitamin A supports the production of healthy lysozymes, important immune enzymes found in tears and saliva, and supports the health of the thymus gland, a vital childhood immune organ. 8-10 |
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid and as sodium ascorbate) |
Vitamin C provides support for healthy skin integrity 11and supports the health of bronchioles and other breathing structures.12,13 Vitamin C levels may be affected by immune system stressors.14
|
Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine HCl) |
B6 supports the health of immune organs (thymus, spleen, and lymph nodes). Vitamin B6 also supports the healthy production of lymphocyte generated antibodies.15-17 |
Zinc (as zinc ascorbate) |
Zinc has been shown in clinical studies to support healthy immune system processes in children.18-20 |
European Black Elderberry Fruit (Sambucus nigra) |
Clinically studied, elderberry extract supports healthy immune system responses.21-23 |
Conclusion
The health of children's immune systems is closely linked to nutrition. Research has demonstrated that certain vitamins, minerals, and herbal extracts support optimal immune health in children.24,25 Sea Buddies Immune Defense provides nutritional support of healthy immune system function with vitamins A, C, and B6, the mineral zinc, and extracts of European black elderberry fruit. Mindful that children's nutritional supplements are only effective if children will take them, Sea Buddies Immune Defense chewable tablets have a great naturally fruity taste that children like.
