The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates the words supplement manufacturers may use to describe their products. Specifically, the law states that dietary supplements may not diagnose, treat, prevent or cure any disease. In the past, the FDA has stated that phrases such as "lowers blood pressure" or "reduces cholesterol levels", for example, would be considered disease claims if used in conjunction with the marketing of dietary supplements. The FDA only permits drugs to make claims to "treat" diseases. 

The FDA could instruct any company they found to be promoting a dietary supplement such as BP Manager^™† with language they consider to be disease claims to stop making the claim immediately and change the product label to say "supports the retention of healthy blood pressure levels already within normal limits."

While there are no documented interactions between the ingredients in BP Manager^™† and prescription medications, there is some theoretical concern that these ingredients could potentiate (increase) that activity of certain classes of medications. These include hypertensives (blood pressure medications), antiarrhythmics, and medications for the treatment of depression. Therefore, as suggested on the product label, we recommend keeping your healthcare practitioner informed of any dietary supplements you may be using.
