Quick!  Let’s play a word association game.

I say menopause…you say ________.

Most people would say: Hot Flash!

Hot flashes have quite the reputation. While many women have heard of hot flashes, they are not prepared for the occasional sleeplessness that can accompany menopause. Before perimenopause, sleeping had never been an issue for me. Once I started having some trouble sleeping I was amazed to find out that so many other women were also experiencing the tossing and turning. Until I found Remifemin® Good Night menopause relief, I was really alarmed!  There is nothing more frustrating than knowing you have a full day ahead and you can’t sleep.

As I began to talk to more and more women…I realized that this was menopause’s little secret. Many women didn’t understand that this too was associated with perimenopause and menopause. Once again we can thank those changing hormones for a situation we would rather not experience.

It can be a “chicken and egg” situation. Do we wake up because we are actually having a night sweat…or do we wake up and then have a night sweat? The bottom line is we hate to be robbed of precious sleep!

And why are we waking up? Is it stress and anxiety from all the responsibilities we have at this age? Is it caffeine too late in the day when it didn’t use to bother us? Is it bad sleep habits like going to bed too late and hours on the computer before we hit the hay? Was it that 4 pm cat nap that we just had to have?  Is it the fact we are trying to fall asleep with the TV on?

Hmmm…experts now tell us we have to pay more attention to making sleeping conditions optimal.

In doing research I found out — there is no real answer! We don’t really know why occasional sleeplessness happens during menopause.  The theory about the sleeplessness being due to irritating hot flashes and night sweats seems like common sense. That’s not always the case for every woman.  Ah! We can keep up the mystique that we are women of mystery even when it comes to menopause!

So if you are looking for more ZZZZ time, I highly recommend Remifemin® Good Night in the evening. Read all about it at www.remifemin.com Sweet dreams girlfriends!

We're more alike than you think.
All of us ladies entering or in full blown menopause have a lot in common. Apart from all the “science”, and what we know on an intellectual level of what is happening to us, there’s the stark reality of living day to day with the changes that menopause brings.
Help the men in your life "get it" when it comes to hot flashes
There were some very interesting letters to Dear Abby lately that you will enjoy if you are a lady in menopause and feel the men in your life “just don’t get it!”
Menopause can spark intense emotions, some positive, some negative. One of the problems that come along with menopause for many women is intensity in emotions. Sometimes that emotion can be anger….or feeling plain old mad.
