Essential fatty acids may also support healthy weight management in children and teens when taken in conjunction with a healthy diet and regular exercise.†
Why is canola oil used in this product?
Canola oil is used in some of our products, such as Eskimo Kids, because it is one of the healthiest oils available. Canola oil is very low in saturated fats and high in monounsaturated fats.
There is a lot of incorrect information about canola oil on the Internet, including some truly scary e-mails floating around. Canola oil is not poisonous. Canola oil comes from a variety of the rape plant, a member of the mustard family (as are turnips and cabbage). Rapeseed oil (from the rape plant) contains a high amount of erucic acid (30 – 60%), which some laboratory studies have found harmful to the heart. The plants that make canola oil have been hybridized to decrease the amount of this component to less than 1% of erucic acid, making it safe to use in cooking. The name of rapeseed oil was changed to canola oil (which stands for “Canada low acid”) to separate it from regular rapeseed oil, and obviously to distance the product from the unfortunate plant name.
Part of the myth of canola oil is based on misconceptions. The rumors say canola oil is used as an industrial lubricant and insecticide. Many oils are used for exactly this purpose, and singling out canola oil is misleading. There are also claims that canola comes from the same plant used in mustard gas. Mustard gas is not made from a mustard plant, but is called mustard gas because of its smell when it was used in World War I.
What type of fish are used in Eskimo Kids? How are they harvested?
Enzymatic Therapy is committed to the sustainability of the planet's resources. Eskimo Kids is obtained only from non-endangered species of cold-water fish (herring fishes, including anchovies and sardines) harvested from areas not subjected to over-fishing.
Not only are fishing times limited to certain days and certain seasons dictated by federal authorities, but the fish population is closely monitored on a continuous basis. During open fishing seasons, official quotas are established and each fishing vessel is audited. Each vessel must be registered and equipped with a GPS (global positioning system) transmitter to ensure accurate tracking. These measures help ensure that the fish populations stay at sustainable levels.
What is the source of the flavor for Eskimo Kids?
Eskimo Kids features a great Tutti-Frutti flavor, with none of the unpleasant fishy aftertaste found with other fish oils and EPA/DHA products. The composition includes orange, raspberry, lemon and cherry flavors, which are identical to natural substances.
Has Eskimo Kids been clinically studied? What are the findings?
Yes. Eskimo Kids contains a full spectrum of beneficial omega fatty acids, including omega-3, -6, and -9 fatty acids, which have been shown to support cognitive development.† In addition, omega-3 fatty acids have been shown, in extensive clinical research, to support cardiovascular, respiratory, skin, and immune health.†
